ISKO™ Denim
We choose to use ISKO Earth Fit™ Denim, sourced from Gaziantep, Turkey for our Purpose V Trouser, Pivot Jean and Duality Wrap Jacket.
Why?

ISKO™ are setting in the benchmark for denim production through their impeccable standards of sustainability, transparency and responsibility, being the first denim mill in the world to be awarded Nordic Swan Ecolabel and EU Ecolabel certifications. Specifically, we use ISKO Earth Fit™, a pioneering denim made from 90.19% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) Certified organic cotton, 8.55% GRS (Global Recycled Standard) polyester and 1.26% elastane. ISKO™ have provided us with a statement declaring they do not use cotton from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan or XinJiang in China, regions reported to violate human rights in sourcing, including implementing forced labour.

ISKO Earth Fit™ is the pinnacle of ISKO™’s conscious approach, relying on lower impact materials such as organic cotton, recycled cotton and recycled polyester, and innovative production techniques. ISKO™ claim that when raw cotton is processed into yarn, typically 10% is lost in the spinning process. They add this cotton back into the process, closing the loop on this material and saving the energy, water and resources needed to grow and transport virgin cotton. All reused cotton is CCS (Content Claim Standard) certified, a chain of custody standard that provides companies with a tool to verify that one or more specific input materials are in a final product. ISKO Earth Fit™ denim is OEKO TEX Standard 100, a worldwide independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels.

The Green at ISKO™ commitment states that “we refuse to source more material than we need. Our waste management innovations reduce the environmental performance impact from yarn to fabric production, by using reused and recycled materials.” Responsible Innovation™ is a mindset that governs ISKO™’s actions and output, including responsible sourcing. A member of Textile Exchange, SAC (Sustainable Apparel Coalition), SLCP (Social Labour Convergence Project), and Sedex, ISKO™ are guided by practice recommendations, preferred fibres and responsible supply networks; from farming to materials, processing, traceability and product end-of-life.

Sustainability Verifications

EU Ecolabel: The EU Ecolabel is a label of environmental excellence that is awarded to products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their life-cycle.

NORDIC SWAN Ecolabel: The Nordic SWAN Ecolabel enables consumers and professional buyers to choose the environmentally best goods and services. It evaluates a product’s total lifecycle from raw material to waste/recycling.

GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD (GOTS): The GOTS is recognised as one of the leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental and toxicological criteria – on for example all input chemicals such as dyestuffs and waste water treatment – along the entire organic textiles supply chain and all processors must comply with social criteria. Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibres can become GOTS certified.

GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD (GRS): The GRS is a holistic certification that verifies recycled input material, tracks it from input to the final product, and also ensures responsible social, environmental practices and chemical use through production. The desired effect of the GRS is to provide brands with a tool for more accurate labelling, to encourage innovation in the use of reclaimed materials, to establish more transparency in the supply chain, and to provide better information to consumers.

ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD (OCS - TR): This scheme verifies that a product has metorganic standards throughout its journey – from raw material to finished product. OCS blended is used for products that contain 5% minimum of organic material blended with conventional or synthetic raw materials.

CONTENT CLAIM STANDARD (CCS): The CCS is a chain of custody standard that provides companies with a tool to verify that one or more specific input materials are in a final product. It requires that each organisation along the supply chain take sufficient steps to ensure that the integrity and identity of the input material is preserved. On its own, the CCS can be used to verify any claimed material through any supply chain.

RECYCLED CLAIM STANDARD (RCS): The RCS is a chain of custody standard that verifies recycled input material that tracks recycled raw materials through the supply chain from input to the final product. The standard was developed through work by the Materials Traceability Working Group, part of Outdoor Industry Association’s (OIA) Sustainability Working Group. The RCS uses the chain of custody requirements of the Content Claim Standard (CCS).

OEKO-TEX: A worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as accessory materials used.

SEDEX: Sedex is one of the world’s largest organisations for helping companies manage responsible sourcing in their supply chain.
